Release Manager Job Overview

This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire release management process.

The ideal candidate will have 12 to 15 years of experience in managing complex releases, with a strong track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Release Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive release plans that outline timelines, milestones, and dependencies across the release lifecycle. Ensure that all stakeholders are aligned and aware of their responsibilities.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with Development, QA, Operations, and Product Management teams to ensure smooth execution of releases. Identify and mitigate potential risks or issues that could impact release timelines or quality.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, track, and mitigate potential risks or issues that could impact release timelines or quality. Ensure that all changes are well-documented, communicated, and approved according to established change control processes.
  • Change Management: Oversee the implementation of changes that meet compliance and audit standards. Coordinate deployments in cloud environments (e.g., AWS), ensuring compliance with relevant security and operational policies.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Champion continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices; drive automation to improve release reliability and efficiency. Ensure that all release-related documentation is complete, up-to-date, and meets compliance/audit standards.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Track release progress and provide regular updates, including detailed performance metrics and status reports to stakeholders. Lead the resolution of issues during release phases to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Release Calendar Management: Maintain and manage the organization's release calendar, ensuring coordination with all relevant stakeholders. Present planned changes in CAB meetings and secure approvals as required across different regions.
  • Merge Management: Oversee the merging of validated changes into main code branches, coordinating closely with development and QA teams. Organize and conduct Go/No-Go meetings with stakeholders to assess readiness before deployment.
  • Post-Release Activities: Monitor post-release performance, coordinate hotfixes if needed, and facilitate Post-Implementation Reviews (PIR). Ensure that all release-related documentation is complete, up-to-date, and meets compliance/audit standards.
