Lead Engineering Expert

The ideal candidate for this pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities, from conceptualization to commissioning, for large-scale, greenfield or brownfield steel plant projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the overall engineering strategy for the steel plant project, ensuring alignment with project goals, objectives, and schedules.
  • Lead the conceptual design, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering phases, guaranteeing a cohesive and optimized plant design.
  • Ensure the integration of all engineering disciplines to achieve a harmonious and efficient plant operation.
  • Oversee the review and approval process for all engineering deliverables from contractors and vendors, guaranteeing compliance with relevant national and international codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Implement robust quality control procedures for all engineering outputs, driving value engineering initiatives to optimize design, reduce costs, and improve plant performance without compromising safety or quality.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • A master's degree in engineering or business administration is an asset.
  • Minimum of 20-25 years of progressive experience in engineering roles within heavy industrial projects, with at least 5-10 years in a leadership/head of engineering capacity for steel plant projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external consultants.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and quality control.
  • Experience with relevant engineering software and tools.
