Key Role in Progressive Tool Design

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Progressive Tool Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in our dynamic engineering team.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and detail progressive press tools using advanced CAD software.
  2. Lead trim line and progressive tool development, including strip layout creation for new components.
  3. Interpret part drawings to conceptualize and design strip layouts considering blanking, piercing, forming, and cutting stages.
  4. Coordinate all aspects of tool development, including design feasibility, tooling design, simulation, manufacturing, and validation.
  5. Optimize strip layout for material utilization, tool life, and manufacturability.
  6. Develop detailed 2D/3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and design documentation.
  7. Execute tolerance analysis and refine designs to meet performance, efficiency, and safety standards.
  8. Create dies, jigs, fixtures, and custom tooling solutions from concept to production.
  9. Perform design validation using testing, simulations, and engineering calculations.
  10. Conduct design feasibility studies and benchmarking against competitors.
  11. Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and quality teams for seamless integration.
  12. Troubleshoot design issues and implement cost-effective, reliable solutions.
  13. Manage tooling and automation projects, including procurement, scheduling, fabrication, and delivery.
  14. Oversee prototype development, production trials, and pre-production validation.
  15. Support production during tool tryouts, commissioning, and debugging.
  16. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for material selection, timelines, and cost optimization.
  17. Attend and contribute to weekly design and cross-functional meetings.
  18. Participate in peer design reviews and prepare project documentation.
  19. Provide progress updates, reports, and technical presentations to internal stakeholders.
  20. Support training and guidance for junior engineers or technicians.
  21. Ensure compliance with GD&T, SPC, DOE, and applicable industry standards and regulations.
  22. Conduct root cause analysis for tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
  23. Maintain proper records, CAD files, and documentation as per QMS standards.Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in tool design / mechanical engineering.
  • NTTF / IGTR certification highly preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in progressive press tool design.
  • Proven track record in using AutoCAD, CATIA V5, UG NX, ViSi.
