Application Support Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Application Support Specialist to join our team.

This role is responsible for providing top-notch application support to banking and fintech applications, acting as the first point of contact for users, understanding and resolving their issues or escalating them as needed.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication skills – both written and verbal, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple support tickets under time constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

The Application Support Specialist will be responsible for:

  1. Providing L1/L2 application support for banking and fintech applications.
  2. Acting as the first point of contact for users, understanding and resolving their issues or escalating them as needed.
  3. Performing incident analysis, root cause identification, and resolution tracking.
  4. Coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  5. Documenting issues, troubleshooting steps, and solutions in the knowledge base.
  6. Monitoring application logs and system alerts to proactively identify potential issues.
  7. Supporting regular deployments, patch releases, and production validations.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. At least 1–3 years of experience in application support, preferably in fintech, banking, or financial services.
  3. Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  4. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple support tickets under time constraints.
  6. Understanding of incident and ticketing tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
  7. Familiarity with SQL and basic database query writing for issue analysis.
  8. Exposure to ITIL practices or service management workflows.
