Linux Software Repository Maintainer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Linux software repository maintainer to ensure the integrity of our software repository.

This is not an administrator profile job. We're looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent technical skills to manage our software repository efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in Linux, bash scripting, C, and Python. Compiling and creating software from source code, as well as knowledge of build system tools like autotools, meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons, are essential skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patching and updating software repositories
  • Managing software dependencies and maintaining changelogs
  • Providing bug fixes and debugging with gdb if needed
  • Reviewing changes and connecting with upstream developers
  • Maintaining software documentation

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Linux and bash scripting
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Knowledge of build system tools (autotools, meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons)
  • Experience with patching and managing software dependencies
  • Strong understanding of CVS and Git
  • Fluency in English
