Job Title: Master Ship Superintendent

The role of a Master Ship Superintendent is crucial in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of assigned vessels.

This position requires close coordination with vessel crews, stakeholders to ensure compliance with international regulations, class requirements, and company standards.

  1. Key Responsibilities:
  2. Technical Oversight: Monitor and manage the maintenance, repairs, and overall technical performance of assigned vessels, including timely completion of scheduled maintenance and repairs within budget constraints.
  3. Dry Docking & Repairs: Plan, supervise, and coordinate dry-docking, major repairs, and maintenance schedules within predetermined timelines and financial parameters.
  4. Operational Budget Management: Prepare and manage operational budgets for vessel maintenance, repairs, and procurement of spare parts.
  5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure vessels comply with international maritime regulations (ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.), class requirements, and company policies.
  6. Safety & Environmental Compliance: Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the fleet by enforcing strict adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.
  7. Crew Support & Training: Provide technical guidance and support to shipboard staff, ensuring adequate training on new technologies and regulatory requirements.
  8. Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits to ensure technical integrity and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  9. Incident Investigation: Assist in the investigation of technical incidents and accidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  10. Procurement & Inventory Management: Oversee procurement of spare parts, lubricants, and stores, ensuring timely and cost-effective supply.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Essential Qualifications:
  2. A Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
  3. Chief Engineer (COC Class 1) certification or equivalent seagoing experience required.
  4. Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical management of ships, preferably in bulk carriers, tankers, offshore vessels, or container ships.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  1. Proven experience in managing a fleet of vessels and working with diverse crew and stakeholders.
  2. Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  3. Strong analytical and negotiation skills for budget and cost control.
  4. Willingness to travel extensively for ship inspections and attend dry dockings.
