Backend Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled developer to join our team as a Laravel Backend Engineer. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving product development, ensuring seamless execution from concept to launch, and creating impactful features for our users.

  • Product Development:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining core backend systems for user authentication, payments, and subscriptions using PHP and Laravel, ensuring scalability for a growing SaaS platform. They will design and manage APIs to power frontend, mobile apps, and third-party integrations, taking end-to-end ownership of features from development to deployment in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • Code Quality & Optimization:

    The selected candidate will write clean, efficient, and maintainable code to support a reliable SaaS product. They will debug and optimize existing systems to enhance performance and handle scale, streamlining backend processes and database queries for efficiency in a resource-limited environment.

  • Team Collaboration:

    The successful individual will work closely with the cross-functional team (frontend, product, and operations) to deliver customer-focused solutions. They will actively contribute to discussions around product features and technical approaches, being hands-on in solving critical issues quickly to maintain customer satisfaction.

  • System Maintenance & Innovation:

    The chosen candidate will continuously monitor and maintain secure and stable backend systems, identifying opportunities to enhance system capabilities or improve processes. They will experiment with and adopt new tools or technologies that can accelerate product innovation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in backend development is required, preferably in a SaaS startup or small team environment. Proven track record of delivering impactful features in a lean setup is essential.

  • Technical Skills:

    The ideal candidate should have proficiency in PHP and Laravel for backend development, strong knowledge of MySQL for managing complex databases, and hands-on experience with building and managing APIs for scalable applications. Bonus: Familiarity with tools like Redis, Docker, or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, DigitalOcean).

  • Mindset:

    A startup mentality is required, with adaptability, proactivity, and a willingness to take ownership of tasks. A customer-focused approach with a strong problem-solving mindset is essential. Collaborative team players who thrive in a small, fast-paced environment are preferred.
