Sustaining Engineer and Trainer Role

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement training programs for engineering teams on sustaining engineering principles.
  • Support the entire product lifecycle from post-launch support to end-of-life, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive design changes and product modifications.
  • Lead investigations and ensure corrective and preventive actions are properly executed.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve recurring product issues.
  • Drive reliability improvement initiatives and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure accurate documentation according to industry standards (ISO, FDA).
  • Facilitate collaboration between R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Service teams.
  • Develop and deliver training modules, workshops, and on-the-job guidance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure sustaining engineering effectiveness.
Required Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong expertise in product lifecycle management and sustaining engineering.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis techniques (5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Experience driving CAPA processes and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (ISO 13485, FDA).
  • Understanding of design changes, engineering change requests (ECR/ECO), and change management.
  • Ability to improve product reliability and performance metrics.
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and technical writing skills.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-industry products, including medical devices, automotive, and electronics.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and presentation skills.
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Experience with PLM software (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill) and reliability tools (Minitab, ReliaSoft).
  • Prior experience training engineers in a multi-industry setup.
