Job Overview

The Head of Ecommerce is responsible for overseeing the entire profit and loss (P&L) for a specific geography, setting ambitious revenue, margin, and customer acquisition cost (CAC) targets.

Crafting and executing a comprehensive growth strategy across direct-to-consumer (D2C), marketplaces, offline, and emerging channels is crucial for success.

Focusing on demand forecasting and managing end-to-end inventory will help ensure stock-out rates are less than or equal to 2% and ageing stock is less than or equal to 4%.

An ideal candidate will define product-market fit by localizing hero SKUs, developing new-product roadmaps, and sunsetting low-return-on-investment (ROI) lines.

Collaboration with research and development (R&D) teams will involve adapting formulations for regional regulations and sensorial preferences.

A well-rounded marketing strategy will be implemented, including performance, influencer, CRM, and public relations efforts, to drive maximum return on ad spend (ROAS).

Establishing data pipelines and dashboards will enable real-time tracking of cohorts, repeat rates, and marketplace rankings.

Negotiations with third-party logistics providers, payment partners, and duty consultants will focus on optimizing landed costs and service level agreements (SLAs).

The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams, driving strategic partnerships to amplify reach and champion customer obsession.

Ensuring legal and tax compliance, presenting quarterly business reviews to global leadership, and deploying a test-and-learn culture will be essential responsibilities.

Benchmarking competition and delivering actionable insights on pricing, share-of-voice, and shelf velocity will also be part of the role.

Key Qualifications
  • Tier 1 colleges only, e.g., IIMs, XLRI, MDI, ISB
  • 10 to 17 years of relevant work experience in retail industry (FMCG, retail, e-commerce)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong analytical, data, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use information for reporting
  • Ability to drive and manage own tasks effectively, work independently, and contribute to the team
  • Meticulous attention to detail and follow-through
  • Organized with superior time management skills and ability to multi-task under tight schedules
  • Self-accountability to follow-through with proper consistent updates to stakeholders
  • Proficiency with project-based tools such as Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
