About the Role:

Job Title: Vice President/Director - Trade Finance Operations

Location: Bengaluru

Purpose of Role:

This senior position is responsible for running operations through various teams, primarily focusing on migrating Loans and Guarantees processes from MUFG offices in different regions to MUFG Global Service (MGS) - Global Capability Center (GCC). The role also involves driving operational efficiency initiatives through process standardization.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work efficiently in a fast-paced setting and achieve high levels of ownership during migration.
  • Coordinating well with global stakeholders to execute bank's strategic initiatives.
  • Driving Operations agenda, industry-wide initiatives particularly those related to Trade Finance standards.
  • Ensuring highest levels of accuracy by the team in transaction processing and minimizing client impact and/or operational incidents.
  • Driving process automation and reengineering to cut costs and enhance customer experience.
  • Providing excellent customer service to uphold the reputation of the division and satisfy customers.
  • Improving customer experience by collaborating with business, product, and regional branch operations.
  • Ensuring people development and engagement model framework is strictly adhered to.
  • Developing and delivering the unit's learning journey.
  • Ensuring retaining talents across Operations units by nurturing people in the hub.
  • Establishing SMART goals for the division and ensuring that all staff are aware of their responsibilities and performance standards.
  • Ensuring that all transactions falling within the Operations unit's purview are processed promptly, accurately, and in compliance with established protocols.
  • Establishing a robust Risk and Control framework.
  • Collaborating with Audit stakeholders and ensuring the unit is operating within the risk appetite.
  • Keeping up to date on market developments, products, and pertinent rules and regulations.
  • Verifying that sanctions policy rules are carefully followed and QA results are at acceptable levels.
  • Leading the unit to develop a proactive risk culture; ensuring that the Group Values and Code of Conduct are properly followed.
  • Verifying that all required training is completed in compliance with bank policy.
  • Participating in industry forums and representing MUFG/MGS as required.
  • Geographies to be covered – APAC, EMEA, and USA.

Candidate Profile:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Solid working capital product expertise, particularly in Commercial and Corporate Business Trade Finance operations, Trade Loans, Structure Finance, and Supply Chain Finance processes.
  • In-depth knowledge in Trade Finance standards, Commodity Trade, Open Account, and Trade Loans, Trade Asset Management, regulatory guidelines are mandatory.
  • In-depth knowledge in SWIFT, CHIPS, CHAPS, SEPA, and all other payment types/methodologies are mandatory.
  • Experience leading sizable teams- Regularly exhibits precise written and vocal communication.
  • Ability to think critically and pay close attention to detail. Verbal communication skills that allow for effective cross-cultural connections.
  • Should be able to drive change by influencing stakeholders.
  • Trusted advisor with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently.

Estimated Salary:

$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience. This estimate may vary depending on location, industry standards, and individual performance.
