Food Sector Development Professional

We are seeking a highly experienced and well-connected professional to lead and support strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating growth in the Food Processing and Agribusiness sector.

The ideal candidate will have deep insights into the food value chain, including processing, cold-chain logistics, exports, innovation, and market access. A strong understanding of sector-specific regulatory frameworks, location dynamics, and ecosystem development is essential.

Prior experience working with industry associations, agri-business networks, think tanks, or consulting/advisory firms is highly preferred.

Key Development Responsibilities:

• Conduct comparative studies of domestic and global agri-food hubs to identify growth opportunities and best practices.
• Design and implement strategies to strengthen the local food sector ecosystem, including farmer-producer organization (FPO) linkages, R&D collaborations, incubation for food start-ups, and cold-chain infrastructure.
• Support the implementation of food parks, Mega Food Parks, and ODOP-based value chains across districts.
• Support development of state and central government strategies aligned with industry needs in relevant areas.
• Contribute to policy frameworks, incentive schemes, and promotional content to position the region/state as a preferred destination for food processing investments.
• Assist in drafting and refining policies, schemes, and incentives to attract private sector investments.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Engage with key stakeholders including ministries, industry bodies, global investors, and large food processing companies.
• Facilitate B2B/B2G engagements with large food processors, exporters, logistics players, and certification agencies.
• Represent the organization in high-level forums, roundtables, and events focused on agribusiness and food processing sector development.
• Facilitate collaboration with logistics providers, certification bodies, academia, R&D institutions, and export facilitation agencies.

Knowledge & Insights:

• Track global trends in food innovation, sustainability, plant-based foods, precision agriculture, and value-added processing.
• Prepare sectoral insights, investment briefs, and location competitiveness reports to support investor decision-making.
• Maintain a repository of successful case studies, FDI trends, policy benchmarks, and emerging business models in the food sector.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Master's degree in Agribusiness, Food Technology, Economics, Public Policy, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the food/agri sector, ideally with exposure to industry policy, ecosystem building, or advisory services.
• Strong knowledge of food sector value chains, market trends, export potential, and infrastructure gaps.
• Demonstrated expertise in working with government agencies, investment bodies, or multilateral development programs.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to work across public and private sector stakeholders.
• Experience in drafting strategy documents, policy notes, or investment facilitation tools.
