We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Strategist to lead our IP team. The successful candidate will work closely with global leaders in the pharmaceutical industry to develop and manage a growing portfolio of intellectual property.

This role requires a deep understanding of intellectual property laws and regulations, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a PhD or postgraduate degree in a relevant field, such as chemistry, biology, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical sciences.

The position will involve developing and managing the company's intellectual property portfolio, enforcing IP processes to ensure timely protection of intellectual property, and working closely with research and development teams to identify patentable inventions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting patents, freedom to operate reports, infringement and validity analysis, risk assessment and mitigation strategies, filing and prosecuting inventive solutions, monitoring and evaluating third-party scientific and patent publications, and providing IP-related inputs to support legal agreements and negotiations.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the company's intellectual property portfolio.
  • Enforce IP processes to ensure timely protection of intellectual property.
  • Work closely with research and development teams to identify patentable inventions.
  • Draft patents, freedom to operate reports, infringement and validity analysis, risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Filing and prosecuting inventive solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate third-party scientific and patent publications.
  • Provide IP-related inputs to support legal agreements and negotiations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD or postgraduate degree in a relevant field, such as chemistry, biology, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical sciences.
  • At least 13 years of experience in a reputable global pharmaceutical company with team handling skills.
  • Experience in product IP clearances, patent drafting and prosecution, and ancillary areas in a pharmaceutical organization.
  • Litigation, litigation support, and licensing experience are highly desirable.
