Job Description

This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity for a Line Cook to join our culinary team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of preparing high-quality food items in a fast-paced kitchen environment. They will be responsible for following recipes, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing basic food items for the menu as directed by their supervisor.
  • Demonstrating advanced knife handling skills.
  • Working effectively in any kitchen section.
  • Reading, understanding, and preparing company recipes accurately.
  • Maintaining productivity and efficiency in completing tasks.
  • FOLLOWing Public Health guidelines in their section, adhering to standards from various countries.
  • Ensuring their area is ready for inspections at all times.
  • Attending work on schedule, following supervisor instructions, and maintaining personal appearance, uniform, and hygiene according to company rules.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • This role involves cost containment through proper use and maintenance of records, supplies, and equipment.

Motivational Responsibilities:

  • No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position.

Qualifications and Education:

  • At least 4 years' experience in upscale hotels, resorts, or cruise ships, preferably with 2+ years as Line Cook (shipboard experience preferred).
  • A culinary degree is required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Superior customer service, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge of personalized services, including needs assessment, quality standards, and guest satisfaction evaluation techniques.
  • Strong planning, coaching, organizing, staffing, controlling, and evaluating skills are required.
  • Intermediate computer software skills are necessary.
  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles, such as debits/credits and adjusting entries, is essential.
  • The ability to write reports and establish a rapport with Senior Officers and corporate office staff is crucial.

Internal Candidate Requirements:

  • Completion of at least one contract as Commis Cook with a satisfactory performance rating and demonstrated leadership skills.
