Job Title: Property Accounting Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating lease accounting schedules in compliance with ASC 842, preparing and posting journal entries related to lease liabilities and right-of-use assets, assisting with the monthly close process and account reconciliations, coordinating with Real Estate, Legal, and Accounts Payable teams, and monitoring critical lease dates to ensure timely updates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update lease accounting schedules in compliance with ASC 842 standards.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to lease liabilities and right-of-use assets to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with the monthly close process and account reconciliations to guarantee the integrity of financial statements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Real Estate, Legal, and Accounts Payable, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Monitor critical lease dates and ensure timely updates to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Accounting Experience: 1-3 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to lease accounting or real estate accounting.
  • ASC 842 Knowledge: Familiarity with ASC 842 principles and lease accounting guidelines.
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
  • Lease Accounting Software: Familiarity with lease accounting software like Yardi, CoStar, or Lucernex.
