Master Data Management Lead Position Overview

The Master Data Management (MDM) Lead is responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and procedures for SAP master data. This role involves leading a team of analysts and coordinators to ensure data quality and consistency across SAP modules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Governance & Strategy: Define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures for SAP master data.
  • Master Data Modeling: Lead the design and enforcement of master data models (e.g., material master, vendor, customer, finance objects).
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish master data KPIs and data quality metrics.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Lead Team Members: Lead and mentor a team of MDM analysts and coordinators.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with business users, functional consultants, and technical teams to gather requirements and resolve issues.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for SAP master data management in cross-functional projects.
System Implementation & Support
  • SAP Solution Management: Manage SAP MDM solutions, including configuration, workflows, and integration with other systems (e.g., non-SAP apps, data lakes).
  • Rollouts and Upgrades: Participate in SAP rollouts, upgrades, and migration projects (e.g., ECC to S/4HANA).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with data-related aspects of SOX, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • Experience: 7–12 years of SAP experience, with at least 4+ years in a Master Data Management lead role.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with SAP MDM, MDG (Master Data Governance), and Data Services tools.
  • Desirable Skills: Experience in S/4HANA is highly preferred, Strong knowledge of SAP master data objects, expertise in data governance, validation rules, and approval workflows.
Preferred Attributes
  • Global Data Management Programs: Exposure to large-scale SAP implementations or global data management programs.
  • Agile Project Delivery: Experience with Agile project delivery and data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM).
