Loan Underwriter Job Description

The Conventional Underwriter is responsible for reviewing and underwriting mortgage loans in accordance with established policies and procedures. They examine all documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that the loan meets the required guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure eligibility, accuracy, and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Verify loan, property, and borrowers' information with other available documents.
  • Calculate asset requirements for closing and reserve purposes.
  • Make independent decisions regarding acceptance and risk of loans according to HUD and investor guidelines.
  • Provide final approval underwriting of mortgage loans.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in conventional or government end-to-end underwriting.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Well-versed with all 4Cs of Underwriting (Asset, Income, Credit, and Collateral).
