Job Overview:

  • The Laboratory Manager reports to the Senior Management Team and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily laboratory operations, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the testing and analysis of soil, water, and product biodegradation studies (marine/soil/compost/anaerobic) to ensure accurate results.
  • Coordinate and schedule lab assignments to Analysts/Lab Technicians, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Compile and verify data resulting from lab testing, documenting and maintaining accurate records for customer quality control samples.
  • Train laboratory analysts on new techniques and technologies, as well as provide guidance and support to staff members.
  • Perform instrument calibrations and maintain verifications as per schedule.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve laboratory efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment and supplies are maintained in good working order, and coordinate replacement or repair as needed.
  • Second line to Laboratory Manager in their absence.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Micro/Biochem/Biotech.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a service industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record of improving laboratory efficiency and productivity.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
