Scientific Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Laboratory Assistant to support our research and teaching activities in the Life Sciences, Forensic Science, Agriculture, and Computer Applications departments.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about scientific research and education. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials, as well as assisting faculty and students during experiments and projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and serviced to ensure accurate results.
  • Experiment Assistance: Provide technical support to faculty and students during experiments, demonstrations, and projects.
  • Materials Handling: Manage the storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals, biological samples, reagents, and other materials.
  • Instrumentation: Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and software applications as required.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory, experiments, and laboratory usage.
  • Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce laboratory safety protocols to ensure compliance with guidelines.
Required Skills:
  • Life Sciences: Familiarity with microbiological, environmental, or zoological lab techniques.
  • Forensic Science: Knowledge of forensic sample handling, analytical instruments, and evidence management.
  • Agriculture: Exposure to soil testing, crop/plant analysis, and agricultural lab tools.
  • Computer Applications: Experience with software installations, programming tools, and troubleshooting.
