Job Role

As a Senior Data Center Operations Analyst, you will be responsible for delivering a highly client-focused support service in a shared or dedicated support environment. Reporting to the OPS Manager, you will be part of the Mainframe Operations team, responsible for resolving complex technical client incidents and problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Mainframe Operations
  • Strong knowledge of Mainframe Operations, including batch monitoring, console operations, ad hoc job scheduling, and IPL activities
  • Extensive experience with scheduling tools such as OPC, CA7, ZEKE, Control-M, and ESP
  • Ability to provide 2nd-level support for system and online monitoring, batch ABEND & recovery, and system restarts
  • Strong knowledge of MVS, VTAM, JCL, IPL, HMC concepts, TSO, JES2, CICS, TAPE, and SDSF
  • Ability to understand JCL structure and make necessary changes per instructions from application programmers
  • Sound knowledge of ITIL processes, including problem, incident, and change management
  • Ability to work in 24/7 environments
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe Operations
  • Ability to check each system for outstanding messages and batch abends on a regular basis
  • Ability to scan batch output to find the actual cause of failure
  • Ability to push critical batch to meet SLAs
  • Ability to understand and perform customers' documented procedures
  • Ability to identify tasks or issues that can be improved and send tickets to the correct team
  • Ability to determine quickly the severity of a problem and make appropriate escalations
  • Ability to run client batch schedules
  • Ability to triage job errors and user situations
  • Ability to monitor batch, systems, and alerts
  • Ability to start and stop subsystems (JES, IMS, DB2)
  • Ability to create and manage incident and request tickets
  • Ability to provide client reporting (batch)
  • Ability to perform ad hoc job scheduling
  • Ability to provide printing support, schedule restores, and project work
  • Ability to provide break-fix support and application startup/shutdown
Soft Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented, and constantly changing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and consistently with all levels of the organization and work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to support and help senior team members in correcting production incidents
  • Good technical writing and documentation skills and willingness to adequately document all work performed
