Job Overview

 

As a seasoned database administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our PostgreSQL environment. We are seeking a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in PostgreSQL administration to join our team.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and tuning, as well as hands-on experience with pgBackRest, Barman, pg_basebackup, and pg_dump. They will be responsible for monitoring and optimizing performance, managing vacuuming and bloat, implementing pooling (PgBouncer), and maintaining robust monitoring and alerts.

 

Additional responsibilities include diagnosing and recovering from cluster corruption using advanced tools and procedures, leveraging backups and replicas to ensure business continuity. The successful candidate will also have strong hands-on experience with AWS PostgreSQL services like RDS and Aurora, including parameter groups, snapshot management, performance insights, and multi-AZ failover.

 

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Mentor junior DBAs and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on automated routine tasks and checks using scripts or scheduling tools (cron, pg_cron).
  • Perform MySQL backup and restore operations, manage MySQL users, roles, and permissions, setup and troubleshoot MySQL replication.

 

Requirements include excellent troubleshooting skills and experience handling critical incidents, solid understanding of database security and compliance best practices, and good communication skills to work collaboratively in a 24x7 production support environment.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong background in PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with pgBackRest, Barman, pg_basebackup, and pg_dump.
  • Experience with AWS PostgreSQL services like RDS and Aurora.
  • Knowledge of MySQL and its features.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
