Procurement Specialist

The procurement specialist is responsible for overseeing the acquisition and management of raw materials essential for production processes.

This role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining quality and timely delivery of raw materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement to Pay Management:
    • Review purchase requisitions and float RFQ as per plan received from planning team.
    • Negotiate best prices and issue PO to L1 as per approval of AVP & VP Procurement.
    • Follow procurement SOP.
    • Ensure timely delivery of material (OTIF), diligence in follow-ups with suppliers, ensure timely payments, vendor reconciliations etc.
  • Procurement Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies for raw materials to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Analyze market trends and identify potential risks and opportunities in the raw materials market.
  • Supplier Management:
    • Select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
    • Breed strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable terms and conditions.
    • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Cost Management:
    • Manage procurement budget for raw materials and ensure compliance with financial targets.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives and continuously seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all raw materials procured meet required quality standards and specifications.
    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Work closely with Inventory Management team to ensure optimal stock levels of raw materials.
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize wastage and reduce excess stock.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and company policies.
    • Identify potential risks in procurement process and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Qualifications:
    • A Master's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration or a related field. A professional certification is preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with focus on raw materials.
    • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices and strategies.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and build strong partnerships.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in procurement software and tools. SAP knowledge is a must.
    • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience in pesticide industry is preferred.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to raw materials procurement.
