Job Overview

The System Administrator role involves overseeing the seamless operation, performance, and security of IBM i systems.

This position ensures business continuity through proactive monitoring, efficient job scheduling, and robust backup and recovery strategies.

Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk), and job queues to identify potential bottlenecks and optimize system efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to resolve system errors and issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain system health through regular diagnostics and performance tuning.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Expertise in IBM i Job Scheduler (WRKJOBSCDE) for automating batch jobs and system tasks.
  • Ability to coordinate with application teams to optimize job dependencies and scheduling windows.
  • Strong understanding of backup strategies using SAVSYS, SAVLIB, SAVOBJ, and IFS backups.
