Role: Senior Consultant

The ideal candidate can organize client needs into successful customer interactions. This individual possesses a strong blend of people skills and in-depth understanding of database deployments.

This role entails learning about customers' industries, formulating suggestions, providing database deployment architecture, configuring/implementing database solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assess existing Postgres deployments, associated tools, and make recommendations on how to improve them and document technical steps.
  • Gather enterprise-wide database requirements by consulting with stakeholders.
  • Create proposals for professional services that meet customers' objectives and goals.
  • Guide customers in developing custom Postgres-based applications using programming languages like C/C++, PHP, python, Java or Ruby.
  • Troubleshoot database challenges including performance issues.
  • Perform migrations from Oracle, SQL Server, and/or MySQL to PostgreSQL.
  • Perform database tuning for existing deployments.
  • Upgrade customer applications to the latest Postgres version and configure/change their application to take advantage of new features.
  • Implement Database High Availability configurations using PostgreSQL.
  • Evaluate customers' security needs and make recommendations.
  • Document work clearly and concisely throughout the project.
  • Implement backup strategies and perform upgrades and patching.
  • Develop data migration strategies to migrate large databases while meeting downtime constraints.
  • Implement advanced Database monitoring and set up alerts using industry best practices and tools.
