Job Description

A key objective of this role is to provide technical assistance to customers using Postgres, a leading open-source database management system. The successful candidate will be responsible for learning about the customer's industry, formulating suggestions, and providing database deployment architecture. This entails configuring and implementing database solutions, working with clients to turn their needs into successful interactions.

The ideal candidate should have a strong blend of people skills and in-depth understanding of database deployments. They must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.

  • Assess existing deployments of Postgres, associated tools, and make recommendations on how to improve them.
  • Gather and record enterprise-wide database requirements by consulting with stakeholders.
  • Work on creating proposals for professional services that meet customer objectives.
  • Guide customers in developing custom Postgres-based applications.
  • Troubleshoot database challenges, including performance issues.
  • Perform database migrations from Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL to PostgreSQL.
  • Design and implement database high availability configurations using PostgreSQL.
  • Evaluate security needs and make recommendations.
  • Document all work clearly and concisely in runbooks and customer communications.
  • Implement backup strategies and perform upgrades and patching.
