Procurement Specialist

The role of the Procurement Specialist is a critical one in ensuring that our company secures high-quality products and services at competitive prices. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers to meet our business needs.

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes
  • Negotiation and communication skills
  • Supplier management and vendor development expertise
  • Ability to analyze data and identify areas for improvement
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software
  • Knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulations
  • Proficiency in CAD and understanding of sheet metal fabrication techniques

Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Identification and Evaluation:
  • Identify potential suppliers based on technical requirements, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct thorough assessments of supplier capabilities, including manufacturing processes, quality control systems, and financial stability
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and negotiate contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions
  • Vendor Development and Improvement:
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify areas for improvement in their processes, quality, and delivery performance
  • Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to enhance their capabilities and meet the company's requirements
  • Implement supplier development programs, including training, workshops, and knowledge sharing initiatives
  • Cost Reduction and Optimization:
  • Analyze the cost structure of products and identify opportunities for cost reduction through value engineering, process optimization, and material sourcing
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and favorable payment terms
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives throughout the supply chain, such as reducing lead times, improving inventory management, and optimizing logistics
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration
  • Manage supplier performance, track key metrics, and address any performance issues proactively
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to suppliers
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality, to ensure alignment and effective communication
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities throughout the product lifecycle
