Unix Support Engineer Opportunity

This is a challenging role for an experienced Unix engineer who can provide high-quality support and resolve complex technical issues. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Unix systems, including AIX, Power, HMC, and VIOS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide L2 or L3-level support for Unix in a mission-critical banking environment.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI DSS, SWIFT, and local banking regulator requirements.
  • Operate under ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Problem/Knowledge).
  • Maintain high availability, performance, and security; participate in DR/BCP drills.
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents and manage approved platform changes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement permanent fixes.
  • Tune configurations and schedule jobs to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate with vendors (TAC cases, firmware/patch planning) and validate post-change health.
  • Demonstrate strong documentation, runbook hygiene, and clear communication with operations, security, audit, and business stakeholders.
  • Ownership mindset with readiness for 24x7 support and on-call rotation.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years (L2), 10+ years (L3) experience in Unix engineering.
  • Strong understanding of Unix systems, including AIX, Power, HMC, and VIOS.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and compliance regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
