Database Administration Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Database Administration Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, installation, and management of databases to ensure optimal performance.

  • You will work closely with our technical team to manage both production SQL-based and Cassandra/NoSQL databases.
  • As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for the configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting, and backup of both traditional SQL databases and NoSQL databases.
  • You will install, configure, and upgrade nodes in high availability customer production clusters.
  • Your expertise will be essential in managing an international 24x7, multi-site production infrastructure powering Proofpoint services, including deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for ensuring proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and reporting in the production environment.
  • You will contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure.
  • You will collaborate with product engineering teams to ensure Operations standards are observed, determine resource impacts for upcoming product deployments, and ensure successful product rollouts.
  • You will develop processes, tools, and documentation in support of production operations.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • You must have 7+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB).
  • You must have 6+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona).
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures is strongly preferred.
  • You must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated track record of leveraging them to evangelize technical best practices with databases/data intelligence platforms.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience required.
