Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented Senior Associate to join our Indirect Tax Litigation team. In this role, you will be responsible for handling tax matters, assisting clients with department inquiries, investigations, and audits, and preparing replies to notices and appeals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of submissions, replies to notices, appeals, meetings with tax authorities, representation during appeals.
  • Assisting clients in responding to department inquiries, investigations, and audits.
  • Preparing reply to Show cause notice/audit replies.
  • Meeting with tax officers for hearings as required.
  • Preparing tax appeals for Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and Court (Tribunal, High Court/Supreme Court).
  • Assisting seniors in representation before judicial forums.
  • Comprehensive research on various topics.

Client Service Delivery:

  • Identifying and discussing technical issues with clients while considering firm risk.
  • Executing work on multiple clients; assumes near independent responsibility for smaller clients.
  • Developing rapport with client management middle layers.

Commercial Acumen:

  • Staying up-to-date with firm-wide and competitor activities, general business trends.
  • Applying knowledge to deliver solutions to clients.

Networking & Opportunities:

  • Identifying new opportunities for existing clients and communicating to seniors.
  • Networking internally to gain understanding of client impact.

Knowledge Development:

  • Staying current with latest tax and other law developments.
  • Contributing to firm knowledge management activities.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent Communication and Drafting Skills.
  • Strong Analytical and researching skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and attention to details.

Experience and Education:

  • Law Graduate from a known Law School with strong academic record.
  • 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Tax preferred (GST, Customs, etc.).
