Job Title:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring database performance, space utilization, and availability, as well as managing sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.

This includes handling database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures, supporting schema changes, and performing database reorganizations as required.

The DBA will also assist in capacity planning, ensure data integrity across environments, work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues, participate in disaster recovery testing, and ensure compliance with backup policies.

Our ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration, knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools, understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery, experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues, familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration, and knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, 3-5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA, good communication and problem-solving skills, and willingness to work in rotational support shifts (if required) are essential qualifications for this role.

Nice to have qualifications include exposure to modernization projects (migrating from DMSII to RDBMS/cloud), knowledge of SQL/relational databases for cross-skill flexibility, and experience in automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks.
