Job Title: Database Specialist

We are seeking a skilled database programmer with strong expertise in database programming and PostgreSQL to fill this key role.

This position involves designing, developing, and maintaining complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in writing, optimizing, and managing these components, along with exposure to Azure PostgreSQL.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement PL/pgSQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, packages, and cursors to enhance database performance and security.
  • Write, analyze, and optimize complex SQL queries, including joins, sub-queries, and merge operations for improved data retrieval.
  • Analyze data, tune queries, and apply indexing techniques for optimal database performance in Azure PostgreSQL.
  • Automate data loads using Pgloader and other scripting methods to streamline the process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database solutions meet business needs.
  • Work on shell scripting and Linux-based automation for database-related tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain best practices for database performance, security, and reliability.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Primary Skills: PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, strong DB knowledge.
  • Secondary Skills: Shell scripting and Linux.
  • Hands-on development experience in PL/pgSQL stored procedures, triggers, cursors, functions, and packages is essential.
  • Strong understanding of SQL query design, optimization, and troubleshooting is necessary.
  • Experience with Azure PostgreSQL, indexing, and performance tuning is required.
  • Exposure to data load automation tools (Pgloader preferred) is beneficial.
