Job Opportunity: Kafka Specialist

  • Responsible for designing and implementing monitoring and alerting rules for Kafka clusters.
  • Owns the migration of Kafka clusters from on-prem data centers to AWS, including planning, requirement definition, supervision, and implementation.
  • Develops and implements stress-tests for Kafka to measure performance limits.
  • Suggests improvements to cluster topology to increase performance limits.
  • Mitigates issues with Kafka functionality, implements preventive measures, and owns post-mortem analysis and improvement tasks.
  • Analyzes Kafka performance, identifies deviations from usual patterns, and defines, documents, and implements corrective actions.
  • Ensures Kafka's Service Level Agreement (SLA) of 99.9% availability is met.
Responsibilities as a Team Member:
  • Participates in on-call rotation for services provided by the team, including mitigating issues with Elastic search, Thanos, Tempo, and Flink using runbooks.

This role requires strong technical skills and expertise in Kafka, as well as excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully implementing monitoring and alerting solutions and ensuring high-availability systems.
