Kafka Cluster Administration Expert

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and management of Confluent Kafka clusters. This includes configuring and monitoring Kafka components such as Connect, Schema Registry, ksqlDB, and REST Proxy.

We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in Apache Kafka and/or Confluent Platform. You should have a strong understanding of Kafka internals including brokers, partitions, offsets, replication, and retention. Additionally, experience with administering Conduktor Console or equivalent Kafka UIs is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will also have proficiency with Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, and Kafka REST Proxy. In addition to technical skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are required to explain Kafka behavior to development teams or clients.

Apart from designing and deploying Kafka clusters, your responsibilities will include developing and managing Kafka Connectors (source and sink), custom transformations, and integrations. You will also provide L2/L3 support to customer-facing environments and act as an SME for Kafka-related issues.

To succeed in this role, you will need to collaborate with application and data teams to ensure reliable and efficient use of Kafka pipelines. Maintaining security best practices such as encryption, SASL/SSL, and RBAC is also crucial. Monitor cluster health, latency, and throughput; troubleshoot performance bottlenecks. Use Conduktor Console for Kafka topic monitoring, debugging, ACLs, schemas, and client visibility. Automate provisioning, scaling, and monitoring using Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or Ansible. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Kafka-related services. Develop scripts to support automation, troubleshooting, and monitoring.

In terms of qualifications, we require 6+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and/or Confluent Platform. Proficiency with container platforms Docker and Kubernetes is also essential. Familiarity with cloud-native Kafka deployments is a plus. We encourage applications from experienced professionals who can bring value to our organization.
