Job Overview

This is a senior accounting role that involves financial management and leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage the month-end close process, including the accurate and timely recording of income, expenses, and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis, in accordance with IFRS requirements.
  • Review and approve journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement trend analyses for management.
  • Prepare quarterly lender compliance packages.
  • Ensure overall technical accounting compliance, including monitoring relevant IFRS and US GAAP developments to ensure accounting policies and procedures comply with current standards.
  • Act as an internal technical accounting expert, which includes performing research and preparing technical accounting memos, and also reviewing new and existing revenue contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally during contract negotiation processes by analyzing the impact of non-standard contract terms, communicating revenue impact, and offering alternative structures.
  • Participate in quarterly forecasting procedures and annual budget processes.
  • Support annual audits and quarterly reviews, providing supporting analysis and technical accounting memos.
  • Provide training sessions and keep business partners informed of developments in accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Develop and/or improve existing policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Work with the Controller and Assistant Controller on various initiatives and complete other ad-hoc requests.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A strong background in technical accounting, with thorough knowledge of both IFRS and US GAAP, including experience with technical research and preparation of accounting memorandums.
  • Software revenue recognition is a plus.
  • The ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently, and manage individuals.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of ethics and integrity.
  • Experience with accounting systems, Microsoft D365 Finance experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and have knowledge depth in complex functions/data analysis using tools such as V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.
  • The ability to cultivate a positive team atmosphere to drive success.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to work in an environment where you will consistently be seated for the majority of your workday.
  • This role requires the ability to sit and regularly type on a keyboard for the majority of your workday.
  • This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe your own and others' work, as well as incoming and outgoing communications via computer and/or mobile devices.
  • The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates.
  • The work environment is an open room with other associates and noise from others will be part of your regular workday.
