Key Role in Legal Leadership

The Senior Legal Manager will be a key member of the legal leadership team, collaborating closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) on all legal matters.

This role involves significant interaction with senior management, providing strategic legal advice, managing external counsel, and leading internal teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal guidance on a wide range of issues, influencing business strategy and decision-making.
  • Assist with litigation strategy, manage outside counsel relationships, and oversee the legal aspects of Company business.
  • Support business acquisition and project life cycle from a legal perspective, ensuring seamless transactions.
  • Lead funding transactions from a legal standpoint, guiding external counsel to ensure successful outcomes.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Corporate Deals: Spearhead equity deals, ensure closure, and resolve outstanding issues with counterparties.
  • Contracts: Oversee the contracts function, drafting, negotiating, and finalizing agreements with vendors, suppliers, consultants, and other parties.
  • M&A/Corporate Finance: Defend indemnity claims, draft responses, and support the Corporate Finance team in SPV governance and investor relations.
  • Litigations: Support strategic litigations, defend the company's interests, and represent the company in court as necessary.
  • Business Acquisition: Collaborate with the Business Acquisition team, review bid documents, conduct risk analysis, address queries, and vet proposals.
  • Policy Advocacy: Provide general legal advice on strategy and interpretation of regulations, review proposed bidding documents, and communicate with authorities.
  • Process Formulation: Develop processes, SOPs, and strategy documents to streamline operations and mitigate risk exposure.

Requirements

A law graduate from a reputable law school, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in multinational companies, preferably in power, infrastructure, or energy sectors.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Sound commercial understanding of power/energy business and government tenders/projects.
