Lead Product and Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Lead Product and Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of our multi-gas sensor products from concept to production.

  • Taking the lead on mechanical design, you will engage with customers to understand their needs and those of their end customers, designing products that meet market demands.
  • You will design complete sensor systems, encompassing housings, gas flow architecture, simulation chambers, control units, and portable instruments.
  • Closely collaborating with electronics, materials, and compliance teams, you will ensure seamless product integration.
  • Ongoing optimization of designs for suitability to manufacture, performance, and cost across diverse environmental conditions is a key aspect of this role.
  • Conducting simulations, tolerance analysis, and failure assessments will be a daily task.
  • Selecting materials and finishes compatible with gas sensing applications will require your expertise.
  • You will also support regulatory documentation (ATEX, IECEx, etc.).
  • Effective interface with suppliers and driving product rollout from concept to full-scale manufacturing is essential.
  • You will also provide support in technical documentation and datasheet creation.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in mechanical/product design.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design.
  • Experience as a member of a Formula One Student Team.
  • A strong aesthetic sense is required: color, geometry, simplicity.
  • Expertise in CAD tools: SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Fusion 360, Inventor, CATIA.
  • Hands-on experience with injection moulding and CNC-based metallic enclosures.
  • Familiarity with NPT, BSP, BSPT threads and machined fittings.
  • Familiarity with FDM/SLA additive manufacturing and CNC basics (laser/milling).
  • A strong grasp of DFM principles and product rollout lifecycle is necessary.
  • Bonus Skills: Understanding of electronics, chemistry, sensors, and packaging.
