Senior Engineering Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead our engineering team in project work. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for taking on senior roles and focusing on production and collaboration with the team.

  • Prepare feasibility study reports that meet brief requirements and review them with the team lead.
  • Work with the team to create a design specification that meets employer requirements, agreeing its format and content, and monitoring its preparation to ensure timely delivery.
  • Agree and monitor the scope of works with the team lead.
  • Clearly define building requirements and purpose of use with the team and other stakeholders to enable detailed design.
  • Carry out detailed design according to client requirements, adhering to standard codes, QA, and technical review, and obtain sign-off from the team lead.
  • Review and monitor the production of calculations, including QA, technical reviews, and sign-off.
  • Ensure that information for project costing preparation is completed in detail and to deadlines, and keep the team informed about design progress through explanations of design decisions.
  • Coordinate project contract documents (drawings and specifications) and review input from team members.
  • Lead the design process and encourage the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost-effective solutions to the agreed program.
  • Fully follow document control and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately, and coach junior staff in their usage.
  • Manage a team of Engineers and Revit Technicians.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • The applicant must have proven experience in Building Structure design with significant experience in a similar role or a good track record.
  • Good presentation skills are necessary.
  • Must be fully conversant with technical structural software such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, SAFE, and STAAD.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project is essential.
  • Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
  • Demonstrate good management, communication, and technical skills and be capable of working both within the team and independently, as dictated by workload.
Education and Certifications:
  • The candidate should possess a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and hold membership to an accredited engineering body.
  • It is desirable that the candidate has obtained British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
  • Experience: 12+ years.
