Job Title: Database Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Database Architect to design, manage and optimize Sybase database configurations.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Create scalable Sybase ASE, RS, and IQ configurations for homogeneous/heterogeneous environments.
  • Automate patch deployments, installations, and BAU tasks using shell scripting or other programming languages.
  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, indexing, query performance, and infrastructure for high efficiency.
  • Maintain data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to enhance database operations and interactions.
  • Develop DR/resiliency strategies, cloud-based Sybase solutions, and technology evolution initiatives.
  • Migrate and upgrade databases.
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot data corruption, long-running queries, blockings, and deadlocks using tools like Performance Monitor.
  • Manage account parameters, security/audit settings, and periodical backups/recovery.
  • Document database structures, SOPs, and maintain incident/crisis management processes.
  • Mentor team members and drive project management, leveraging LEAN methodology for optimization.

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in Sybase ASE, RS, and IQ
  • Automation skills using shell scripting or other programming languages
  • Knowledge of data storage, retrieval, indexing, query performance, and infrastructure optimization
  • Understanding of data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards
  • Ability to collaborate with application developers and system administrators
  • Familiarity with DR/resiliency strategies, cloud-based Sybase solutions, and technology evolution initiatives
