We're looking for a dynamic and results-driven Category Sales Director to join our team. As a key member, you'll be responsible for overseeing the sales team, driving strategic initiatives, and managing product launches in a diverse category.

About Us: The Wedding Company (previously Betterhalf) is India's largest wedding planning and fulfillment company with an annually $10M GMV, disrupting the $130bn market (4% of India's GDP). We've successfully raised $8.5M in Series A funding from marquee investors like Y Combinator, FinSight Ventures, Instagram co-founder, Dropbox co-founder, Kunal Shah - CRED founder and Nobroker founders.

Your Growth: You'll experience rapid growth with Series B and C in 24 months, leading to a 100-people team becoming a 200-people strong team. Be part of the room where the company's decisions are planned with founders and business leaders.

Job Description:

  • P/L Management: Oversee profit and loss statements for your category, ensuring financial targets are met and exceeded.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a sales team of at least 15 members, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Product Launches: Lead the end-to-end process of new category or product launches, from concept to execution.
  • Vendor Management: Onboard and maintain relationships with vendors, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and quality standards.
  • Demand and Supply Analysis: Understand market dynamics to optimize inventory levels and ensure product availability.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrate quick learning abilities and on-the-spot problem-solving skills to address challenges as they arise.
  • Goal Achievement: Set, track, and achieve departmental goals with authority, driving results through effective planning and execution.
  • Project Ownership: Take full ownership of projects within your category, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget.
  • B2C Focus: Implement strategies that enhance customer experience and drive consumer engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7-8 years of experience in category management, sales strategy, or a related role, preferably in the wedding or events industry.
  • Understand customer need analysis and market analysis very well.
  • Must have P/L handling experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
  • You should have worked in a startup/have seen a small company become a large company (50 employee team to 500 employees).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for customer service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be willing to work on weekends (1 weekday rotational off).

Salary: ₹35-45 lakhs per annum (approx.), depending on experience and qualifications.
