Job Overview:

The role of Marine Insurance Leader involves overseeing the marine insurance and claims department, ensuring comprehensive implementation of all marine insurance procedures across the organization.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Decision-Making:
    • Develop and implement marine insurance strategies to minimize risks and maximize returns.
    • Approve high-value decisions in consultation with senior management, including settlements and policy endorsements.
  • Compliance and Governance:
    • Ensure adherence to international regulations, such as OPA 90, Canada Shipping Act, and MLC.
    • Maintain oversight of marine insurance policy coverage, placements, certificates, claims, renewals, and documentation.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Act as a direct supervisor and mentor for team members.
    • Ensure optimal departmental structure, delegation, and staff performance.
  • Training and Development:
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and procedural excellence within the team.
    • Facilitate regular training on policy requirements, claim handling, and compliance updates.

Requirements:

Master's degree in law, risk management, or insurance law.

Minimum 10–15 years of experience in marine insurance/claims handling.

Strong understanding of marine insurance policies, claim processes, and marine insurance rules and regulations.
