Job Title: AVP-Legal

The role of the AVP Legal is a crucial part of the Legal leadership team, working closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) to oversee all aspects of legal affairs.

This role involves significant interaction with senior management, providing strategic advice on various legal issues, managing outside counsels, and leading internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on a broad range of issues, influencing strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with litigation strategy and manage outside counsel relationships.
  • Oversee the legal aspects of Company business, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide legal support in business acquisition and throughout the project life cycle, including funding transactions.
  • Lead equity deals, ensuring closure and addressing outstanding issues with other parties.
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts with third-party EPC vendors, suppliers, consultants, and others.
  • Support corporate finance teams in SPV governance, defending indemnity claims, and drafting responses to notices.
  • Participate in competitive bids, reviewing bid documents, issuing risk analyses, and communicating with the bid coordinator.
  • Issue in-house legal opinions on interpretation and strategic issues.
  • Review proposed standard bidding documents, communicate with authorities, and represent the company as advised by the GCLO.
  • Formulate processes, SOPs, and strategy documents to streamline processes and mitigate risk exposure.
  • Provide day-to-day legal advisory services to business teams.

Requirements:

  • Law graduate from a reputable law school with around 15+ years of experience in multinational companies, preferably in power/infrastructure/energy sectors.
  • Mix of in-house and law firm experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Sound commercial understanding of power/energy business and government tenders/projects.
