Software Engineering Team Lead

This is a high-level engineering management position that oversees the implementation and support of departmental methods, techniques, tools, utilities, and evaluation criteria for testing. The successful candidate will offer feedback for improvements to efficiency, analyze complex test processes and procedures, maintain test documentation and results, and ensure existing functionality while recommending corrective action.

• Implement and support all departmental methods, techniques, tools, utilities, and evaluation criteria for testing while offering feedback for improvements to efficiency.
• Analyze, write, and create templates for complex test processes and procedures.
• Maintain test documentation and test results, and analyze results to ensure existing functionality, while recommending corrective action.
• Work with internal and cross-functional teams to implement and improve test strategies as required.
• Collaborate with Project/Program Management on project scope and estimation.
• Engage with remote development and test teams.
• Provide technical input into project scope and estimating activities.
• Assist and validate customer scenarios as required.
• Create and conduct presentations internally.
• Manage employee responsibilities including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring candidates for open positions, onboarding, establishing goals, assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, conducting performance evaluations, approving paid time-off (PTO), developing performance improvement plans, and taking disciplinary action.
• Adhere to F5's Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations of the Code or other company policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Extensive experience in quality systems, data networking, and automation engineering methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams.
• Experience with workload balancing, focusing on cross-functional resourcing.
• Knowledge of Jira, Microsoft Project, Visio, and other project and workflow tools.
• Familiarity with OSI Layer-1 to 7, including LAN switches, routers, general TCP/IP, and associated protocols.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
• Demonstrated ability in mentoring and developing direct reports.
• Experience with QA metrics, defect management, and reporting.
• Extensive experience with test lab development and support.
• Extensive experience with bug tracking and triage systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated excellence in written communications.

Please note that this job requires:

• The ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
• The potential to be on call periodically or work outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
• The occasional need to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 10% of the time spent traveling.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 2 years in a Test Manager role, is required. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in quality systems, data networking, and automation engineering methodologies, as well as demonstrated ability to lead technical teams.
