Mainframe Batch Operations Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to monitor end-to-end mainframe batch operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor batch jobs and scheduling using IWS-OPC
  • Interact with clients and teams daily
  • Coordinate with application teams for issues during batch cycles
  • Understand applications, critical deadline times, and resolve batch failures within SLA
  • Resolve abends: restart, mark complete, cancel jobs, analyze late jobs, etc. through OPC scheduler
  • Participate in incident calls and handle meetings regarding implementations and changes
  • Prepare reports and documents
  • Perform ad-hoc requests to schedule particular jobs, applications, and periods in OPC
  • Handle production batch job abends following operator instructions and escalating if required
  • Provide immediate fixes and submit jobs
  • Investigate long-running jobs
  • Change priorities and service classes of regions/jobs if needed

Additional Skills:

  • Perform mainframe console operations system health checks
  • Perform IPL on all LPARs during maintenance windows and troubleshoot during IPL
  • Reply to WTORs referring to process documents
  • Handle hardware-related issues, raise service requests with the hardware provider
  • Handle resource contentions and take actions for alerts on production systems
  • Perform DR tests
  • Attend daily huddles and change meetings
  • Enable transactions through automation and commands
  • Knowledge of HMC tool
