Job Title: Enterprise Messaging Solutions Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled expert to administer and support enterprise messaging solutions on the z/OS platform.

The ideal candidate will ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing messaging infrastructure that supports business applications and batch processes. This role demands deep technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to maintain mission-critical systems.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Messaging Administration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain messaging software and components on z/OS.
    • Manage messaging objects including queue managers, queues, channels, and cluster configurations.
    • Monitor messaging performance and availability, applying tuning techniques to optimize throughput and reduce latency.
  • Upgrade Support:
    • Plan and execute upgrades of messaging software and components on z/OS.
    • Conduct compatibility checks, regression testing, and rollback planning.
    • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure minimal disruption during upgrades.
    • Maintain detailed documentation and version control records for upgrades.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Implement and manage messaging security protocols including encryption, authentication, and authorization.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for secure messaging environments.
  • Integration & Automation:
    • Support integration of messaging software with z/OS subsystems including CICS, DB2, and IMS.
    • Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for messaging operations.
  • Disaster Recovery & High Availability:
    • Design and implement messaging Queue Sharing Groups and RESLEVEL configurations for high availability.
    • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover strategies for messaging environments.
  • Collaboration & Support:
    • Partner with developers, infrastructure teams, and support staff to troubleshoot and resolve messaging-related issues.
    • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Documentation & Process Improvement:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of messaging configurations, procedures, and best practices.
    • Identify, propose, and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
