Special Education Professional

The Madras Seva Sadan is an institution with a legacy in education. We provide special education and vocational training for children and adults with disabilities.

We offer pre-vocational and vocational training programs, including the NIOS curriculum. Our team of rehabilitation professionals provides physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Our ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), providing instructional support tailored to students' unique needs, maintaining thorough documentation and reporting, managing student behavior effectively, and adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review IEPs tailored to each student's needs, in collaboration with parents, therapists, and other school staff.
  • Deliver customized instruction to students based on their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Modify the standard curriculum to meet the abilities of students with disabilities.
  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans and use positive behavior supports.
  • Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, counselors, and parents to support students' academic and social development.
  • Assess and track student performance and progress regularly, adjusting goals accordingly.
  • Maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, assessments, and communications.
  • Participate in training and workshops to stay updated on special education practices, legal requirements, and instructional strategies.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or P.G. Diploma or Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities.
  • 3 to 7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids and devices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good organisational and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Tamil.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies.
