Static Stress Engineer Job Description

Airworthiness and structural integrity are crucial aspects of aircraft design. As a Static Stress Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that aircraft structures can withstand various loads and stresses during flight.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conducting stress analysis of metallic and composite aircraft structures using classical methods, ISAMI, GFEM, and DFEM.
  • Extracting loads, stresses, material data, geometry details, and fastener specifications from part and assembly drawings.
  • Applying appropriate static design values from standard references.
  • Creating and refining Finite Element Models (FEMs) using geometric data.
  • Conducting sizing of primary and secondary structures to meet static requirements.
  • Extracting fastener loads and performing detailed joint analysis. Calculating Reserve Factors (RF) for various failure modes, including:
  • Strength
  • Buckling (Column & Panel)
  • Shear panel failure
  • Identifying and implementing low RF mitigations using classical or numerical methods.
  • Preparing stress certification dossiers, including ACD4 and SSR reports.
  • Collaborating with design, loads, and certification teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

This role requires a strong understanding of stress analysis principles and their application in the aerospace industry. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
