Job Overview:

The EHS Manager will be responsible for leading the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) functions, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards, managing audits, and driving the organization's safety culture. This role involves overseeing safety protocols, environmental management, incident reporting, and coordinating with regulatory bodies such as MPCB, DISH, and fire authorities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • EHS System Management:
    • Lead the implementation and ongoing improvement of the EHS management system, including developing, reviewing, and enforcing EHS SOPs, checklists, manuals, and policies.
    • Ensure adherence to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
  • Safety & Incident Management:
    • Maintain a zero-accident and zero-fire record.
    • Oversee the fire safety system, ensuring it is operational and in compliance with regulations.
    • Manage the work permit system and ensure safe work practices.
    • Report, investigate, and analyze accidents, incidents, and near-misses; lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Proactively identify and address potential EHS risks that could impact company operations or reputation.
  • Training & Safety Culture:
    • Organize safety training programs for all employees (including contractors) on key safety topics.
    • Conduct regular safety talks and ensure effective daily safety communication.
    • Organize and lead the Safety Committee meetings, mock drills, and provide safety reports to DISH.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Liaison:
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national environmental and safety regulations.
    • Coordinate with regulatory bodies (MPCB, DISH, fire authorities) and ensure timely documentation and reporting.
    • Stay updated on emerging legislation and ensure proactive compliance.
  • Waste & Environmental Management:
    • Oversee hazardous waste management in compliance with MPCB norms, including disposal via incineration, landfill, or registered recyclers.
    • Monitor the performance of the wastewater treatment plant (ETP) and perform trend analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Fire & Emergency Response:
    • Maintain and manage the fire detection, prevention, and extinguishing systems.
    • Organize On-Site Emergency Plan (OSEP) drills, ensuring readiness in case of emergencies.
    • Train and maintain Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and First Aiders (FA).
    • Ensure that fire extinguishers and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly maintained and functional.
  • Health & Safety Programs:
    • Coordinate annual health check-ups for all employees.
    • Promote the health and safety of employees through ongoing education and risk assessments.
    • Carry out regular HAZOP studies and risk assessments.

Requirements:

  • Education: BE in Chemical Engineering or a Master's in a related field. Degree or Diploma in Safety Management from a reputed institution.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of experience in in EHS management, preferably within industrial or manufacturing sectors. Proven track record of implementing EHS systems, conducting safety audits, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, fire safety standards, and environmental management. Understanding of chemicals and the safety risk they posses.

Estimated Salary: ₹15,00,000 - ₹20,00,000 per annum, based on qualifications, experience, and location.
