Global Import Ocean Freight Leader

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned import ocean freight professional to lead and manage our FCL, LCL, and consolidation operations. The ideal candidate will develop strategic pricing plans, negotiate carrier agreements, and foster strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day import operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation, ensuring timely cargo clearance and delivery.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving pricing strategies, optimize carrier relationships, and streamline logistics processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination throughout the import process.
  • Maintain compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade requirements.
  • Design and implement operational procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • Lead and mentor the import operations team, providing guidance on performance metrics, training, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor departmental P&L, drive cost control, and contribute to regular budgeting efforts.
  • Work closely with sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.
  • Promote high standards of customer service, resolve issues promptly, and maintain consistent client satisfaction.
  • Compile regular reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
  • Proven leadership and people management abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
