Job Title: Cloud Data Platform Administrator

The role of a Snowflake administrator involves managing, optimizing, and securing our data cloud environment. This position requires expertise in Snowflake administration, database management, performance tuning, security, and automation.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer Snowflake accounts, users, roles, and permissions following RBAC principles.
  • Monitor query performance and optimize warehouses to ensure efficient execution.
  • Manage databases, schemas, tables, and data pipelines in Snowflake.
  • Implement security best practices including encryption, data masking, network policies, and audit logging.
  • Develop scripts for monitoring, alerting, and automating administrative tasks (SQL, Python, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Track warehouse utilization, storage, and query performance; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Manage compute and storage costs by monitoring consumption and implementing optimization strategies.
  • Apply patches, monitor Snowflake updates, and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Support integrations with ETL/ELT tools, BI platforms, and cloud services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong knowledge of Snowflake features: Virtual Warehouses, Clustering, Time Travel, Data Sharing, Resource Monitors, Tasks, Streams.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting (Python, Shell, PowerShell).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integrations.
  • Knowledge of data security & governance practices (RBAC, PII handling, compliance frameworks).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced certification.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other IaC tools.
  • Familiarity with Datadog, Splunk, or other monitoring tools.
