Design Engineer for High-Voltage Switchgear and Switchboards

We are seeking an exceptional design engineer with expertise in high-voltage switchgear and switchboard design. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of UL-compliant designs and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

This role involves designing mechanical structures, enclosures, and layouts that integrate seamlessly with electrical systems while ensuring compliance with UL, CSA, and IEC standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Creating detailed designs for enclosures, busbar supports, frames, and layouts for high-voltage switchgear and switchboards.
  • Developing 2D/3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and BOMs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

The candidate must ensure that the designs comply with relevant UL standards, including UL 1558 (Switchgear), UL 891 (Switchboards), and UL 508A (Control Panels). Additionally, they must consider IP/NEMA ratings, CSA and IEC standards, thermal management, and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting electrical schematics to ensure proper mechanical/electrical integration.
  • Collaborating with electrical designers to provide fully integrated solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of thermal management, mechanical strength, structural stability, and vibration. They must also be able to validate designs for manufacturability, reliability, and compliance.
