Category FMCG Manager

The Category FMCG Manager is responsible for leading the Category FMCG team in a specified Region. This role involves managing the entire region, comprising approximately 20-30 stores, and overseeing the buying and movement of goods from vendors to Distribution Centers (DCs) and then to stores to ensure smooth business operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of 8-10 members responsible for buying National & Regional FMCG brands.
  • Conduct classroom training and On-The-Job training for team members, focusing on grooming and developing them.
  • Coordinate and address challenges in buying and movement of goods from vendor to DC and DC to stores.
  • Meet key vendor partners regularly for negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives.
  • Work closely with various teams, including Store Operations, Supply Chain, core Purchase, and Central Purchase, to maximize off-takes and ensure best promotions in stores.
  • Discuss and close Monthly and Quarterly plans with FMCG vendors, including demand planning, promotions, and smooth supplies to stores.
  • Train and groom Purchase officers and Assistant Purchase managers on-the-job and in-classroom trainings.
  • Ensure availability in DCs and stores day-to-day, while maintaining competitive pricing in the market.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must be a Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA with minimum 10 years of experience in FMCG Sales.
  • Experience in General Trade will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of local language/location of posting is required.
  • Must possess good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent team management and training skills are essential, as this role involves managing a large team and training/grooming team members.
